History Tech
Using technology in the classroom is something that Glenn Wiebe feels is necessary, and I totally agree with him. A quote from John Medina on one of his presentations states: "If you wanted to create an educational environment that was directly opposed to what the brain is good at doing you would probably design something like a modern classroom." He talks about how games can stimulate the mind and have a positive effect on students because they will be engaged in what they are learning, even if they think they are just playing a game. There are also 6 strategies to finding video games that you can teach with. You can google search for games, skim the App Store, use PC platforms such as Steam, use accessible and popular video games, use a RSS Reader, and word of mouth. Teachers should form a teaching community so that they can put their brainpower together to find games that students can play and tell the others if they find one that works tremendously, and they can also find their own games with the multiple ways provided above. Technology in the classroom should be embraced because it is the future of education.
