Shelly Fryer Review
Shelly Fryer’s website and work are very interesting and powerful. What she is able to do in her classroom with students who are not as fortunate as others is mind blowing. I think she is right when she says that classrooms should use technology tools to amplify student creativity. But it does not start with the students because the teacher has to be familiar with technology and know how to use it in the classroom effectively and efficiently. She talks about how the educator needs to have a vocabulary that is filled with technological terms, such as: Share Square, Hamburger, Save to Camera Roll, Workflow, Home Button, Screenshot, Photo Roll. Teachers should know that when sharing videos, you should put the link through Safeshare.tv so that there are not any distracting or inappropriate ads that the students might see. A QR code is another way that the teacher can share information on the internet with the students so that they may be directed to where they need to go efficiently. Opinion, Book Creator, Shadow Puppet EDU, SeeSaw, Pic Collage Kids, and iMovie are a few apps that Shelly Fryer utilizes in her classroom to demonstrate understanding. In an increasingly technology-focused world, teachers must be able to show their students how to use certain technology, and must have a solid understanding of the technology that is a part of the classroom. It is great for teachers to use the technology in their classrooms because it allows them to share what the students have been working on online so that not only they can see the result of their hard work, but their peers, parents, and anyone else can marvel at their achievements.
